"Angry? Why would I be angry? You're working for my company and you didn't even see fit to tell me?"

"Your company? You said you worked for Four Corners. You didn't say anything about Herzenogc."

"You know they own them all." My hands were on my hips and my chest heaving. Oh, I was mad. I knew there was something off about him. My voice spit fire, "Just out walking, huh?"

"Yes. I was out walking. I told you I do it every morning. Mac, what is this all about?"

"Tell me you weren't out there spying on me. And tell me you did not fire that shot. I want to hear you say it and mean it."

"Spying on you? Why on earth would I be spying on you?" He reached out and rubbed his hands up and down my arms. "Mac, are you all right?"

He was so close, so alive. I felt his zest for life, and a hunger I'd never known pulse from him washing over my body in a forceful tidal wave. I wanted to be a part of that. He was warm and real, and I was so alone. Before he could pull away or vanish, I pressed close and brought our lips together.

I don't know who was more shocked by the initial contact, but there was never a moment of hesitation on either of our parts. His lips matched mine in desire. And before I knew it, he had taken control of the kiss. Delving, exploring and caressing.

Kissed before? Heck yeah, but nothing like this. There had been hunger and passion in the men I had kissed. They thought my life was exciting, or they liked my body. But kissing Gabe was like coming home. It gave me the same absurd feeling as getting off the elevator at my apartment. I wanted to sigh and surrender to the experience.

As if his lips were not magic enough, I felt his more-than-capable hands sliding up my dress. In his hands I felt no flaw in my body, but experienced perfection through his eyes.

The slow, excruciatingly delightful caress gave me goosebumps. He worked his way from my waist to my ribcage. Leaving his left hand there, his right rose to the back of my neck, his thumb moving in rhythmic circles. What had I been so angry about? Herzenogc employed several thousand people. An expert could be there for any number of reasons.

His hand on my ribs inched upward. As he ran his fingers over my electrified skin, I had just enough time to remember the syringe resting between my breasts. It was time to end this happy interlude, but how? It was like asking me to step away from a cheesecake buffet.

Totally see why she won an award for this one! Mac is a great heroin and Gabe, her alpha male match. Here's hoping Bobby gets a story down the line (you'll love him... trust me!) I personally hate it when reviewers go on and on and tells you so much of the story that you don't even need to read the book. Do yourself a favor and don't read any of these lengthy Let-Me-Tell-You-All-About it reviews! Just back up and read what the publisher intended for you to read and if you enjoy a great Action/Adventure story then you're in. Yes, it also has a bit of spicy romance but this book is set up to attract the majority! Hell, my husband even liked it!

With its first page, For The Love Of will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Kally Jo Surbeck has crafted a tale that combines an action packed plot and strong, memorable characters. The heroine and hero possess inimitable qualities that make them distinct. Mac is especially appealing, her strength and vitality virtually leaps from the pages to draw the reader in. From the plot's inception, Mac's plan to leave The Outfit lured me to continue reading. The first person point of view personalized Mac's dilemma and allowed for a deeper understanding of what she was feeling. The additional characters within the story each have a purpose and are an excellent foil to Mac and Gabe. For The Love Of is very well thought out, from the technological gadgets to the network of crime and deception perpetuated by The Outfit. Readers will be astounded at the level of detail that went into this work. Kally Jo Surbeck does wonders introducing bits and pieces of information that will surprise readers with their subsequent importance within the context of the plot. The author has done an excellent job balancing the tension and intrigue with moments of humor, friendship, and passion. Kally does a wonderful job tying all the loose ends up and going out with as much bang as she started with.

Not to mention a sexy leading male that makes being involved with a hit man look good. Think John Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank, but even sexier. Gabe is dead sexy, no pun intended. Mac on the other hand, is stubborn, adorable, and his perfect match. Two hit men (one being a woman) for hire, one on a mission to kill the other, who get involved and try to find a way out of the nightmare that they find themselves in. It's a perfect plot, with twists, turns and plenty of turmoil. I loved it!!!
